Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.
